Catholic Schools NSW

In a spectacular showing of skill, determination and educational excellence, Catholic schools across NSW have proven once again why their Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs are among the best in the country.

At the 2025 WorldSkills National Championships & Skills Show in Brisbane, NSW Catholic schools left their mark on a national stage, with 25 students competing across 16 industry areas as part of the 50-strong NSW Schools Team. In a fierce competition, Catholic school students secured 15 out of 19 medals won by the NSW Team, a phenomenal result that cemented their reputation as leaders in skills-based education.

From mechatronics to makeup, carpentry to cookery, Catholic students didn’t just compete, they excelled. Their performances saw Catholic Schools come out on top in three entire industries, beating out competitors from across the nation. These results aren’t just statistics; they’re a testament to the depth and quality of training provided by our schools through their Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), who work in close partnership with industry and employers to deliver real-world, job-ready learning.

As one of Australia’s most comprehensive educational systems, CSNSW has long understood the power of vocational pathways. Far from being a ‘plan B,’ VET is a launchpad - into apprenticeships, into entrepreneurship, into tertiary education and into the careers that keep Australia moving. It builds confidence, creativity and competence. And our students are walking, talking proof.

Beyond the medals, these results, alongside the 10 CSNSW students and trainers who won their categories in the 2025 Regional NSW Training Award, speak volumes about the commitment Catholic schools make to every student. They speak to teachers who go above and beyond, to schools that embrace innovation, and to systems that believe excellence belongs to everyone, not just in exams, but in life.

This is the second consecutive national championship where NSW has been named the best performing state for VET in schools. It’s a proud moment for our communities, for our dioceses, and for every young person who choses a hands-on, practical learning journey that leads to limitless possibilities.

To our 25 student competitors - we are so proud of you. To the trainers and mentors guiding them every step of the way - thank you. And to every young person considering a vocational path - your future is in capable hands.
